Just got new rear tires, and apparently the overall diameter is larger than specified. I have stock 16"-8.5 rear wheels, and the new tires are 255-50-16s (Yokohama Avid v4s). I got the Yokohamas to replace the cushy sidewall BFG G-force drag radials I was running. The tire size/numbers are the same between the Yoko's and the BFG's, but the Yoko's(side by side) are 1 inch taller ???(will only be 1/2" taller when mounted on the car). When they specify overall diameter of a tire, do they not include the tread depth ? The shape of the top of the tires is similar. Anyone know the travel of the oem rear suspension, or what gap is needed between the top of the tires and the rear fender lip so there won't be tire rubbing? ( assuming we're not going to roll fenders).
